Today's Popular Art Form Called Folk Art Paintings

I have loved folk art paintings since I was a kid. I spent a lot of time with my grandmother and her house full of them. One of my favorites, which was done by John Roeder. Maybe it is because I spent a lot of time playing in my tree house, that the trees in the picture appealed to me a lot. Left when she died, I stopped painting in the place of honor on my fireplace mantle.

Event and one of the favorite paintings in 1962 by Bill Dodge. It's called the first vehicle to Van Nuys and shows the center of a city full of people. This is done in vibrant colors and also depicts the buildings in the market like an ice cream parlor and the Hotel Van Nuys.

Another is called painting that I admire Howard in 1944. Painted in 1988 by Reverend Howard Finster and is in enamel. I do not know who the biggest smile, and one in the painting or the one on my face every time you look at them.

There is a sub-category of folk art and paintings that depict the world of black Americans. I have a friend who collects these and found one from a woman lying in the hammock. She was comfortable, so much so that I could imagine what it felt like to lie there myself. I personally do not have any of this group in my country, and since I like to collect pieces that I can relate to. However, they are the joy of it.

There is a scene that I like the water drawn in 1940. It's a quagmire of a house on a bayou and has a Louisiana feel to it. It's called Alligator Fisher and I'm thinking of getting because it reminds me of my Cajun heritage, and most of my family is from Louisiana.
